Idaho Barber Shop Helps the Needy
Posted: Mar 26, 2010 7:13 AM Updated: Mar 26, 2010 7:13 AMIt started off local but a small area business has gone global. It's a collaborative effort working with the World Mission Outreach and Global Rescue, it's a barber shop reaching out to anyone who may need something more than just a hair cut.
"We teach these people how to work, show them about community building, and we teach them about career building," said Shears For His Glory Barber Shop Owner Cesil Raphino.
The owner, a Haitian native, said he wanted to help those in need. They've done everything from offering free hair cuts to the poor to sponsoring a local mariachi youth group in a band competition and even give unemployed people a place to work, like Carlos Reyes.
"Being a person helped myself, in my heart I want to help other people and it doesn't have to be barbering, it could be anything that they already have in them," said Carlos Reyes.
It's even inspired local companies to donate their services to join in to this grass root enterprise.
"The guys that work for me came in here with some materials and did a lot of work for all the dry wall," said Neville Precision Drywall Owner Paul Neville.
The barber shop owner said they have traveled to Haiti to help the people and have plan in returning next month to build a Shears For His Glory Barber Shop there as well. They have also raised more than $12-hundred dollars to start building another barber shop in Uganda Africa.
As reported in the above article and in the news broadcast, the money raised was for a barber shop in Uganda - actually a correction this money was raised for the purpose of 'well water problems' in Uganda. This fits in with Shears programs, in lending a helping hand. Condensing all the info about S4HG into a short time slot takes a lot, and sometimes things get crossed. Nevertheless they did a great job.
